Simank, O.D.![]() Dr. Simank is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1996. He speaks Spanish. He is a Certified Glaucoma Specialist and has worked extensively in the areas of family eye care, the treatment of ocular disease, pediatrics, contact lenses and post-operative management of refractive surgery. He is a member of the American and Texas Optometric Associations and Harris County Optometric Society. Dr. Simank provides exams at no charge for patients in programs such as Eye Care for Kids Foundation, Prevent Blindness - Partners in Prevention and Vision USA. He is also a provider for InfantSee. Dr. Simank is married and has four children. He enjoys butterfly gardening with his family. He lives in Katy and is a member of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Mallory B. Thornton, O.D.![]() Dr. Thornton received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. She then graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2000. Dr. Thornton has been working in private practice since that time and joined Westheimer Vision Associates in 2003, becoming a partner in 2006. Dr. Thornton specializes in contact lenses, surgical co-management and patient care including geriatric and pediatric populations. She is a Certified Glaucoma Specialist. Dr. Thornton enjoys working with children of all ages, and routinely does exams for kids 6 months of age and older. Dr. Thornton is a native Texan having lived in Katy for over 20 years. She is a member of the American and Texas Optometric Associations and Harris County Optometric Society. Dr. Thornton provides exams at no charge for patients in programs such as Eye Care for Kids Foundation, Prevent Blindness - Partners in Prevention and Vision USA. She is also a provider for InfantSee. Dr. Thornton is married and has two children. Her past times include traveling, cooking, and long distance running. She is a member of Tallowood Baptist Church. Lan Kelly Nguyen, O.D.![]() Dr. Lan Kelly Nguyen is residency trained in corneal disorders and specialty contact lens fittings including bifocals, post surgical and keratoconus cases. Dr. Nguyen is a certified glaucoma specialist and has been in practice since 2007. She joined WVA in 2008. Dr. Nguyen, a native Houstonian, speaks fluent Vietnamese and resides in Midtown. She enjoys traveling all over the world and experiencing different cultures. Gerald J. Romano, O.D. F.A.A.O.![]() Dr. Gerald Romano graduated in 1958 from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He served in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps prior to joining his brother, Dr. Albert Romano in private practice. Dr. Romano is a Certified Glaucoma Specialist and is also certified in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases. He has a strong background in contact lenses and has been a clinical investigator for several contact lens manufacturers. Dr. Romano is a past president of the Harris County Optometric Society and remains a member in this professional organization. In addition, he is a member of the American and Texas Optometric Associations. Dr. Romano is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He provides exams at no charge for patients in programs such as Eye Care for Kids Foundation, Prevent Blindness - Partners in Prevention and Vision USA. In the past 4 years, he has made medical/vision missions serving the Mayans in the mountains of Guatemala with Sending Out Servants. Dr. Romano has been married to his wife for 43 years. He has four grown sons and three grandchildren. He enjoys spending time at the lake, fishing and hanging out with friends and family. He is an active member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Albert C. Romano, O.D. F.A.A.O.![]() Dr. Romano graduated in 1958 from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). He is a skilled diagnostician and a specialist with contact lenses. He is a Certified Glaucoma Specialist. Dr. Romano was a lecturer at UHCO for almost 20 years and a clinical investigator for several contact lens manufacturers. He is a member of the American and Texas Optometric Associations and the Harris County Optometric Society. Dr. Romano is also a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He provides exams at no charge for patients in programs such as Eye Care for Kids Foundation, Prevent Blindness - Partners in Prevention and Vision USA. Dr. Romano is married with five children, 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He enjoys traveling, golf and fine dining.
